The Forney Arts Council (FAC) presents several events this fall featuring fine art and artisan products. The Downtown Forney Market takes place October 12 and again on November 9 on the grounds of Murray Cotton Gin, and The Autumn Art Show Pop Up & Sale is scheduled for November 17 at Devonshire Living subdivision community.

More than 75 artisans offer products at the markets on the Murray Cotton Gin grounds located at 210 East Broad Street including artisan-made crafts, baked goods, plants, home decor, candles, soaps, jewelry, and custom-made items. Local nonprofits often have booths, too, like Oak Hill Animal Rescue and the Forney Lions Club. A list of vendors are on downtownforneymarket.com. The backdrop of the Murray Cotton Gin adds a nostalgic touch to the day. The complex was erected in the early 1900s when cotton was king of the Forney economy. The event is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and food is available for purchase.

The pop up art show on November 17 features the fine art of 10 local area artists. Presented by the Forney Arts Council and Devonshire Residential Association, the event takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. in the meeting house of the thriving Devonshire Living master-planned community at 1201 Ravenhill Road. Guests are greeted with an iconic stone tower and glistening ponds. Hike and bike trails wind through the community to numerous pocket parks and open green space. Light refreshments are served.

The Forney Arts Council began in 2010 with a mission to inspire a vibrant and inclusive environment conducive to learning, appreciating, and experiencing the cultural arts. As part of their mission, in addition to the events scheduled this fall, the FAC also sponsors art exhibitions and receptions at Stash’s Table & Fable, a library bistro offering meals and reading areas.
